The new NBA season is upon us! Before we get into the daily grind, here are four futures bets worth taking now.
Denver Nuggets over 49.5 Wins (-140)
The Nuggets finished last year with 48 wins. Now, Jamal Murray is back, Michael Porter Jr is healthy (for now), and they added Bruce Brown and KCP. Our projection is 54 wins for the Nuggets, with the upside to go even higher. And, if you have DK, go and see if they're still offering the odds boost of +110 on this prop. That's a hell of a deal.
Sacramento Kings over 33.5 Wins (-120)
The Kings have been languishing in mediocrity for years, but there's reason to have some hope going into 2022-23. Monk and Huerter should provide some additional shooting and Keegan Murray looks like he could be a player. This isn't a team challenging for more than the play in, but even that is an upgrade. Our projection is 42 wins.
Portland Trailblazers under 39.5 Wins (+100)
There's very little reason for hope in Portland. Dame staying healthy is no lock. The roster is a hodge podge of sort of okay players. When you have to rely on Josh Hart it doesn't bode well. This team is a candidate to sell players as we get toward the trade deadline as well. Our projection for Portland is 30 wins.
Indiana Pacers under 23.5 Wins (+100)
Tanking is going to go to a new level this year with Wembanyama on the precipice of joining the league. It's worth looking at the under on all the bad teams in the league (and there are plenty this year), but the Pacers are our favorite. They were terrible down the stretch last year, they don't play defense, and they're likely to deal any decent players they have in an attempt to win single-digit games. Our projection is 18 wins.
